Live Projects you can help

Alex Wish Duchenne Virtual Ward Project

Alex's Wish is a charity dedicated to conquering Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. A progressive, life-limiting muscle-wasting disease that affects 1 in every 3,500 boys born. We are a family-run charity, set-up by Alex's parents 13 years ago after discovering there is not enough funding going into medical research to find treatments and a cure for those living with Duchenne in the UK.

We don’t want to reinvent the wheel and will always signpost you to other free services where they exist. We aim to make sure that everyone knows where to go for the best information and advice that is impartial and free.

Sight Life Visually Impaired Photographers

Derby Kids Camp

Derby Kids' Camp are an entirely volunteer-run charity providing free holidays for over 300 young children every year. The kids are nominated for a holiday by their schools, and are in real need of a break from challenges including bereavement, financial difficulties, social interaction challenges, being a young carer and more.

Beautifully Blind

Consultation was carried out with our visually impaired service users about what was important to them. One of the issues identified was loss of identity and self-worth after developing sight loss. Women with a vision impairment often said that they lost confidence and struggled with their self-esteem. It was apparent that feeling good with oneself is centred around one’s appearance.
