Ella Support Loop
Ask Ella CIC is a non-profit tech-for-good organisation supporting families navigating Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our AI-powered Ella Support Loop provides emotionally safe, trusted guidance to reduce stress, improve access to entitlements, and support better outcomes for underserved communities across education, health, and care.

Project Overview
Ella Support Loop is a smart, human-first support tool and ecosystem that provides calm, personalized guidance based on verified information and emotional safety. It's like texting a well-informed friend who truly understands.
You can ask questions such as:
– “What happens after Year 11?”
– “How do I appeal an EHCP decision?”
– “Which local schools support speech and language needs?”
– “What can I do if my council missed an EHCP deadline?”
Ella provides clear, relevant answers based on trusted sources like the SEND Code of Practice, IPSEA, and local charities. She never guesses or scrapes the web for information.
You can explore anonymously or log in to return to saved chats, always staying in control. Ella never trains AI on your conversations or shares your data. While we are developing a full anonymous mode, chats may be stored temporarily to improve answers, but they are never linked to your identity.
You can also rate how helpful Ella was. This feedback contributes to an anonymous loop that helps enhance her responses and provides councils and charities with insights into where support is lacking. We are collaborating with trusted local charities, councils, and families to ensure Ella remains grounded in the actual needs of people.
Why It Matters
Behind every missed deadline or confusing policy document is a family in crisis. The SEND system is filled with good people and good intentions, but it’s fragmented, overstretched, and difficult to navigate. Ella Support Loop isn’t just a product; it’s a new kind of support ecosystem.
Ella brings clarity, calm, and dignity to the chaos, supporting families, individuals, and frontline workers. By reducing escalations and conflict, she saves significant time, effort, and emotional stress, ultimately helping both families and councils avoid costly tribunals and legal fees.
Ella helps people understand their rights, take confident steps forward, and access support more easily. It also provides local organizations with deeper insights into what’s working and what’s not, which helps inform decisions on where resources should be allocated and prioritized.
This creates a mutual benefit, empowering both families and org to work together for better outcomes.
Our pilot is now live! We’re delivering real support for families right now while testing, improving, and growing Ella Support Loop based on lived experience. Every pound you contribute helps us keep it free for families and expand it responsibly.
We are currently focusing on:
- Post-16 transitions and Personal Independence Plans
- EHCP guidance and timelines
We’re starting with these areas because they are consistently among the most difficult, time-sensitive, and emotionally charged moments in a young person’s SEND journey. Families often express that they feel most alone during these times.
This pilot is being co-created with families, individuals, and frontline workers in a specific local area, with the aim of scaling up as we learn what works.
It will include:
- Secure login with private chat history
- Anonymous access mode (in development)
- Trusted content, simplified for clarity
- A feedback loop to help services improve without tracking individuals
Our long-term vision is to extend Ella’s capabilities across the full SEND journey, including early years, diagnosis pathways, supported living, benefits, housing, and eventually to other public services.
Ella is browser-based, works on any device, and will always be free to use. An app version may be developed in the future.

R!SE Up
RISE with’ is our community led scheme, which harnesses the support of local organisations to provide life-changing experiences for young people. Coaching provides the foundation of our work, but we want to go further, raising aspirations for our young people. We believe the way to do this is by exposing them to new experiences, which have the potential to be life changing. Whether it’s drumming, boxing, parkour or cooking, these opportunities give young people access to new possibilities, life skills and passions.

The Brick
At The Brick, we run a Food Community at St George’s Church on Water Street, Wigan - a place where people can access affordable, nutritious food with choice, dignity and respect.

The restore Collective
Restore Collective is a registered charity guided by our ethos of “enabling people to thrive. We are dedicated to fostering genuine connection and belonging. We care deeply for people especially those who are vulnerable or marginalised. Welcoming them into friendship, valuing their unique contributions, and walking alongside them on their journey toward flourishing.
