Fulham Memories is a welcoming weekly programme for people aged 65 and over, designed to reduce social isolation while improving both physical and mental wellbeing.

Project Overview

Overview provided by crowdfunder.co.uk

Each 90-minute session combines fun memory and quiz activities with gentle chair-based exercise, creating an engaging environment where participants can socialise, build confidence and maintain their independence.

The programme provides vital support for older adults who may be experiencing loneliness, living with dementia, or facing mobility or learning challenges. Experienced coaches ensure every activity is fully inclusive, adapting sessions so everyone can participate and benefit, regardless of their individual needs.

The impact of the programme is clear. Recent participant feedback shows:

  • 100% reported reduced feelings of social isolation.
  • 85% experienced improved mental wellbeing.
  • 85% felt more confident and had higher self-esteem.
  • 85% said they felt more inspired and engaged.
  • 71% reported improved physical wellbeing.
  • 73% developed new skills and knowledge.

One participant shared the difference the programme has made to their life:

"I have been dealing with a major health problem and found the groups very helpful in maintaining my physical and psychological wellbeing. I look forward to the sessions because I have very little social contact."

As our population continues to age, community programmes such as Fulham Memories play an increasingly important role in helping older people remain healthy, active and connected to those around them.
