Headway Rotherham
Headway Rotherham supports adults living with acquired brain injury across Rotherham and South Yorkshire, helping people rebuild confidence, independence, and financial stability after life‑changing events such as stroke, trauma, illness, or accident.
Project Overview
Brain injury often leads to an abrupt loss of employment, decreased income, increased household expenses, and a long-term reliance on caregivers. Many of our members experience financial difficulties, social isolation, and limited access to community life. Our service provides the stability, structure, and support necessary to prevent crises and help individuals regain control of their lives.
We aim to deliver a community-based rehabilitation program that fosters social connections and promotes well-being for adults in Rotherham living with the lasting effects of brain injury. Our offerings include:
- Weekly group sessions focused on cognitive stimulation, confidence-building, and social interaction
- Creative and therapeutic activities such as art, cooking, music, and gentle exercise
- Community outings to combat isolation and help rebuild independence
- One-on-one emotional support for survivors and their caregivers
- Practical guidance and advocacy to assist individuals in accessing benefits, services, and stability
This project directly supports those who often fall through the cracks—individuals whose brain injuries have left them feeling isolated, anxious, and struggling with daily tasks.

St Joseph’s Hospice is an independent charity providing specialist, compassionate end-of-life care to around 150 adults each year across Merseyside and parts of West Lancashire. It supports people with complex, incurable conditions to live their final days with dignity, comfort and as much quality of life as possible
