The hospitals look after the clinical needs and treatments of the body, but we look after the mind and the spirit – the emotional and psychological support that is really important to managing and coping, and being the best you can be whatever the situation or prognosis.

Project Overview

Overview provided by crowdfunder.co.uk

We support adults affected by cancer at whatever stage they come to us plus close family  - right at the beginning when they are coming to terms with what has happened, through any surgery and hospital treatments or afterwards when everyone may be adjusting to a different life with different perspectives

Each person receives an individually focused therapeutic programme of 121 therapy sessions, with access to talks, workshops and groups to help their mind body and spirit.  We provide the important community - the safe space where they can be in a safe place, receive help with decision making and taking back control, build back confidence and self esteem and empowering them to move forward

Why are we crowdfunding?

buildWe do not get funding from the govt or NHS, and we have to raise £3200 every week to provide the support we do, and in the current economic climate it is becoming increasingly difficult.  Costs to run any events are continuing to rise whilst the ability of our supporters to give is reducing. We are hoping to raise at least £7000 to help offset event costs that amounted to more than£15,000 last year.

Ward Buddies

We believe no child should feel abandoned, and no parent should have to choose between caring for their child in the hospital and caring for their family at home. Our vision is to build a sustainable model of emotional bedside care that can be shared with hospitals nationwide, and even around the world

R!SE Up

RISE with’ is our community led scheme, which harnesses the support of local organisations to provide life-changing experiences for young people. Coaching provides the foundation of our work, but we want to go further, raising aspirations for our young people. We believe the way to do this is by exposing them to new experiences, which have the potential to be life changing. Whether it’s drumming, boxing, parkour or cooking, these opportunities give young people access to new possibilities, life skills and passions.

The Brick

At The Brick, we run a Food Community at St George’s Church on Water Street, Wigan - a place where people can access affordable, nutritious food with choice, dignity and respect.
