Safe and Sound
Since 2002, we have been tackling child sexual exploitation by providing high quality tailored one-to-one support to victims and young people at risk in Derby and Derbyshire. From 2019, whilst maintaining our specialism in sexual exploitation, we have expanded our services to include all forms of exploitation. Our vital work ensures that individuals receive the support they need to move forwards in their lives.

Project Overview
Our mission is to transform the lives of children and young people in Derbyshire who are affected by child exploitation. While many have a clear idea of what it means to be safe and sound, the reality for numerous young individuals is quite different. At Safe and Sound, we are passionate about ensuring that every child can live a life free from exploitation. Unfortunately, many are still impacted and far from safe. That’s why we are committed to preventing exploitation, providing support, and helping to rebuild lives until our services are no longer needed, regardless of how long that process takes.
Our youth work aligns with our prevention and recovery priorities. From our premises at the Osmaston Community Hub in Derby, we offer a range of activities each evening, including sports, art, and music, as well as homework support groups. Our aim is to provide youth activities for those supported by our one-to-one provision and to offer early diversionary activities for those identified as at risk or who live locally.
These youth activities focus on building confidence, self-esteem, and resilience, along with raising awareness about exploitation in youth settings. We collaborate with other youth organisations to allow our young people to explore various sports and activities. This approach often plays a crucial role in supporting our young people back into education or helping them transition into training and employment.
We are seeking to raise £5,000 to purchase several tablets and laptops for the children to use during our homework club and youth activities at both Safe & Sound locations.
