Hounds for Heros
We’re a small passionate team dedicated to supporting those who have served or are serving our country, who have become disabled through injury or illness. Our experienced trainers, volunteers, and staff work together to provide life-changing assistance dogs that offer not only physical support but emotional strength and independence.

Project Overview
We benefit:
- Veterans and active service personnel from the Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Air Force
- Frontline emergency responders, including police officers, firefighters, and paramedics
- Their families and caregivers, who often experience secondary impacts of trauma, stress, and caregiving challenges
The assistance dogs we provide don’t just change one life; they create a ripple effect. Families gain peace of mind, and communities see stronger, more independent individuals re-engaging with work, volunteering, and social activities. Healthcare services are also eased, as some beneficiaries may require less medication or fewer interventions.
Our work helps restore dignity, independence, and connection for those who have given so much to protect and serve others.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Training an assistance dog is a two-year journey that requires expert trainers, veterinary care, specialised equipment, and ongoing support. Each dog represents a significant investment of time, care, and resources, but the outcome is truly life-changing.
We are raising money to fund the acquisition and initial training of one of these incredible dogs. Every pound raised brings us closer to giving a veteran or emergency responder the support, independence, and companionship they deserve.
With your help, we can continue to provide this vital service to those who need it most.
How we’ll spend the money raised
We believe in complete transparency: every donation you make goes directly toward changing lives. The total cost of supporting one of our dogs from the age of 8 weeks until retirement at age 10 is approximately £50,000. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the charity can fully fund this amount, ensuring there is no financial burden on the beneficiary.
Our request for funding covers the first two years of the dog’s care and development, including the purchase of a puppy from a trusted breeder, veterinary bills, insurance, food, treats, toys, equipment, and transport. It also supports the crucial early training stage, which is delivered by a volunteer puppy parent under the guidance of our professional trainers.
