St Joseph’s Hospice is an independent charity providing specialist, compassionate end-of-life care to around 150 adults each year across Merseyside and parts of West Lancashire. It supports people with complex, incurable conditions to live their final days with dignity, comfort and as much quality of life as possible

Project Overview

Overview provided by crowdfunder.co.uk

They are seeking £3,500 for a new Staff and Volunteers Health and Wellbeing programme. The hospice explains that caring for people at the end of their lives can be both physically and emotionally demanding, so the project is specifically about looking after the people who provide that care.

The funding would provide 12 months of wellbeing support, including 12 on-site mobility sessions alongside online mobility and flexibility sessions that staff and volunteers can access around their shifts. It would also fund three guided meditation and stretching sessions designed to improve mental wellbeing and resilience. Online access would extend to family members too, meaning the hospice estimates 300+ people could potentially benefit.

In a nutshell: this is about caring for the carers, helping the staff and volunteers who support people through some of the most difficult moments of their lives to look after their own physical and mental wellbeing too.
