Derbyshire Children's Seaside Holiday Home
Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre offers free seaside holidays in Skegness for children in Derbyshire who are experiencing poverty, trauma, or difficult circumstances. For more than 135 years, we have provided safe and enjoyable experiences that foster confidence, friendships, and hope giving children a chance to escape their daily pressures and create lasting memories.

Project Overview
Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre is seeking support from the Mortgage Advice Bureau Foundation to help provide free, life-changing seaside holidays for disadvantaged children across Derbyshire. Many of the children we support are living in poverty and facing challenges such as family trauma, bereavement, poor mental health, and caregiving responsibilities. For some, a holiday with us is their first opportunity to leave their local area, experience the seaside, and enjoy the freedom, friendship, and fun that many children take for granted.
Funding will directly contribute to our holiday program in 2026, allowing children aged 6 to 11 to enjoy a fully funded five-day residential holiday at our centre in Skegness.
The project will:
- Provide accommodation, meals, transport, activities, and care for children who would otherwise be unable to access a holiday experience.
- Deliver our structured "5 Days to Thrive" social and emotional learning program, helping children develop confidence, resilience, emotional well-being, and positive aspirations.
- Support trained staff and volunteers in creating a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment where children can thrive.
- Offer memorable experiences, including beach activities, outdoor adventures, creative sessions, team challenges, and opportunities to build friendships and independence.
- Cover essential operational costs necessary to run each holiday safely, including utilities, insurance, cleaning, laundry, and maintenance.
By removing financial barriers, every holiday experience remains completely free for families. The Foundation's support will not only transform the lives of the children who attend but will also help us demonstrate our impact, attract additional funding, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of our holiday program as we continue to rebuild and expand our services following our successful relaunch in 2026.
